GS1 Nigeria conducted a sensitization workshop in conjunction with NAFDAC on the private-sector pilot on the traceability of HIV-AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (ATM) commodities for private-sector stakeholders across the country. The workshop was organized to create awareness about the role of GS1 standards in implementing traceability and to educate participants on the importance of tracking the supply chain of these vital commodities.

The workshop was attended by members of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) from the north-central zone, north-west zone, north-east zone, south-west zone, south-east zone, and south-south zone. The participants were introduced to the concept of GS1 standards, which enable organizations to uniquely identify and track products as they move through the supply chain.

The training ended positively, with participants expressing their satisfaction with the knowledge they had gained. The next phase of the training will involve deploying scanners and the Trackgenic mobile app to implement the pilot. This is a critical step in implementing traceability in the ATM supply chain and ensuring that these vital commodities reach those who need them most.

In conclusion, the sensitization workshop was an important step toward implementing traceability in the ATM supply chain in Nigeria. By introducing participants to the concept of GS1 standards and highlighting the importance of tracking the supply chain of these vital commodities, the workshop has taken us one step closer to ensuring that all Nigerians have access to the healthcare they need.
